NASTEC Review Panel Visit to Palmyrah Research Institute, Jaffna

The Review Panel appointed by NASTEC for the Performance Review of the Palmyrah Research Institute (PRI) visited PRI, Jaffna, on 27–28 April 2026.

During the visit, the Panel held discussions with the management and staff of PRI and observed the institute’s facilities and ongoing activities.

A stakeholder meeting was also conducted on 28 April 2026 with manufacturers and exporters of palmyrah-related products. The discussion provided an opportunity to obtain stakeholder views, experiences and suggestions on the services provided by PRI and the future needs of the palmyrah sector.

The Review Panel members were Prof. (Mrs.) Shivany Shanmugathas ( Chairperson) , Prof. K. R. Ranjith Mahanama, and Dr. Chathuranga Bharathee Ranaweera.
