9th YSF Annual Research Symposium of the Young Scientists Forum (YSF)
The Young Scientists Forum (YSF) of Sri Lanka is hosted by the National Science & Technology Commission (NASTEC) as a consultative forum of the Commission. The YSF Research Symposium which was initiated in year 2012 has become a popular event among researches with the main objective of providing a platform for young scientists to promote collaborative research by sharing research findings and research interests in different fields while creating a space for networking and techno entrepreneurship development.
NASTEC organized its 9th Young Scientists Research Symposium in collaboration with YSF Steering Committee on 13th November 2020 from 9.00 a.m. onwards as an online programme via Zoom Video Conference facility, parallel to the commemoration of World Science Day and National Science Week organized by Ministry of Skills Development, Vocational Education, Research and Innovation.
The Symposium was initiated with an Inauguration Ceremony with the participation of large number of guests in a virtual platform and Mrs. Padma Rajapaksha, Secretary to the Ministry of Skills Development, Vocational Education, Research and Innovation, addressed the gathering as the Guest of Honor. Dr. Ravi Liyanage, Chairman/CEO of Kingdom of Raigam and Commission Member of NASTEC, delivered the Keynote Speech and Prof. Meththika Vithanage, Winner of 2018 Young Scientist Award delivered the Guest Speech to the virtual gathering. The symposium progressed with the presentation of 52 extended abstracts presented online in seven parallel technical sessions and concluded successfully.
